Our Mission

Over 600 babies are born each day to females aged 15-191 across all racial/ethnic backgrounds. This statistic puts the U.S. at the top of the list for teenage pregnancies in the developed world. The Goal Project was created to end this phenomenon by implementing mentorship programs with local at risk youth.

The Goal Project volunteers and mentees recently enjoyed a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a first time for many participants.

Goal groups across the country partner with local youth community partners to fulfill its mission of empowering young, at-risk women. Goal volunteers facilitate and lead monthly workshops and field trips which explore topics like leadership, team building, career enhancement, healthy relationships, and self-esteem.

These workshops and field trips inspire young women to pursue higher educational opportunities (including college and vocational education) and expanded career paths.

Goal volunteers serve as mentors to participants of the program. Based on an initial assessment of Goal’s inaugural year, volunteers have found that the most rewarding experiences of the program are grounded in their one-to-one conversations with their mentees. With Goal volunteers as their mentors and ‘go-to resource,’ these young women are enabled to flourish and grow in their interests.

Ultimately, we believe that giving young, at-risk women the skills and dreams necessary to pursue their passions alongside strong mentorship will ultimately curb the recent increase in teen pregnancy.
