Field Trips
To bring to our workshops to life, we escort our mentees on a series of related field trips.
METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART
To highlight the career opportunities available in the arts, we facilitated a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The trip to the MET was a favorite for the girls looking to learn more about leadership opportunities in arts & culture.
ice skating
To celebrate the holiday season, we took the girls ice skating in Central Park. They LOVED it. We were able to spend some fun time socializing with them and all enjoy some pizza afterwards.
GOOGLE NYC HQ
In order to explore opportunities in tech and social media, we showed our girls around Google NYC. Between learning how the personal computer has evolved over time and meeting with a few Googlers, the girls walked away learning that there's more to tech than just technical jobs.
APPLE PICKING
After learning about the importance of healthy eating, we took the girls apple picking in upstate New York. Once the girls arrived at Apple Dave’s Orchard, they were able to enjoy a few hours on the beautiful farm and pick some delicious apples.
Apollo theater
Our very first field trip holds a special place in all our volunteers' hearts. The behind -the-scenes tour of this historic Harlem theater (given by "Mr. Apollo" himself, Billy Mitchell) showed the girls that opportunity exists everywhere and there's no way anyone can keep you from shining!
Broadway show
We took the girls to see the Broadway show, “Anastasia”. Afterwards, the girls were lucky enough to go backstage and meet some of the cast members!
